Building, Planning & Zoning

(1) A Building Permit shall be required for any work which must conform to the Uniform Code and/or the Energy Code, including but not limited to, the construction, enlargement, alteration, improvement, removal, relocation or demolition of any building or structure or any portion thereof, and the installation of a solid-fuel-burning heating appliance, chimney or flue in any dwelling unit. No person shall commence any work for which a building permit is required without first having obtained a building permit from the Code Enforcement Officer.

(2) In nonresidential districts, whenever there is a change in occupant of a building or site, the new occupant must apply for a change of occupancy permit and receive a certificate of occupancy approving the change in occupancy. Planning Board meetings are held the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm, at the American Legion, 7 Spring Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.

Submission packet requirements: 5 hard copies of the entire submission packet to the Office of Planning & Zoning, and 1 electronic copy (in PDF format) emailed to the Planning Board Secretary
