Office of the Mayor
Mayor Rick Cerino was elected as the 27th Mayor of the Village of Wappingers Falls in 2021 as the Democratic and Republican Nominee.
Mayor Cerino previously served as 1st Ward Trustee for 14 years and served on the Village’s Zoning Board. He was also appointed as Deputy Mayor 7 times under 3 Mayor’s. Prior to this service, he was a sheet metal worker for Local 38 and after 32 years he retired.
Rick Cerino has chaired every Village Committee numerous times. He is responsible for solving the tax liability where Sterling properties Riverbend is now. He also delivered over 1.6 million dollars to The Village coffers from Tri- Municipal. Along with that he was a member of the Tri-Municipal Sewer Commission 12 times and was Chairman 10 times.
As chairman of the Finance and Fire committee, in 2001, Rick spearheaded the Fireman’s Service Award program which gives our volunteer firefighters a small stipend after 20 years of service.
Whether it was garbage, water or sewer bills, Rick was the go to guy to solve problems. As Trustee for 7 terms (14 years) Rick resolved residents’ concerns in a fair and judicious manner. As Mayor he will continue to do the same. Rick sees the problems before him, so much to do with so few funds. He will attempt to maximize the best use of Village funds so we can get the best bang for our buck.
Mayor Cerino is currently serving on the following committees:
- Tri-Municipal
- Library
- Grant Writer liason
- Disaster
